St. Matthew Athletic Association –
At St. Matthew, we encourage all our parish and school families to participate in sports as a way to grow closer to the Parish Community. Students/players will learn about teamwork and sportsmanship in a Faith-based environment from our coaches. Adults can participate as a member of the Athletic Board, as a Coach, or as a Game Day Volunteer. Our motto is “Teamwork, Sportsmanship, Faith, and Fun.” All Coaches and Assistant Coaches are volunteers! This is a great way to get involved and share your experiences with the athletes and other coaches. In order to keep our children safe, all volunteers who are around the athletes must attend and pass the Safe Environment training course that is run by the Archdioceses.
The mission of the Athletic Association is to provide an opportunity for young people to develop physically, spiritually, mentally, socially, and emotionally by promoting a Catholic athletic program based on the needs of the athlete and the positive fulfillment of those needs. The Athletic Board consists of the following positions: Athletic Director, Assistant Athletic Director, Secretary, Treasurer, Fundraising Coordinator, Scheduling Coordinator, Basketball Coordinator, and Volleyball Coordinator. These positions traditionally run for 2 years and require meeting during the school year about once a month.
